Aerobic Filtration System

The unique Aquaco Aerobic System removes suspended solids and micro-organisms.

The system consists of a settlement tank fed directly from showers, baths and hand basins, an aerobic treatment tank where the grey water is aerobically treated to encourage the biological treatment of the bacteria.

A water lift pump then transports the water by air pressure into the Membrane Bio-Reactor. The function of the MBR is as a secondary aerobic biological treatment, followed by the separation of solids and bacteria by a submerged ultra-filtration unit. The membrane has a porosity of 50 nm which excludes particles, bacteria and viruses.

Once treated the water is airlifted to a clear water tank for direct use at the appliances. The filtered water meets the required values of the European Guidelines for bathing water.

A typical system for an office building would include:

  • A settlement tank
  • A treatment tank
  • An aeration treatment unit
  • A Membrane Bio Reactor filter
  • Air pumps
  • A clear water tank
  • Control panel with remote monitoring facility
  • Submersible pumps
  • Float switches
  • Pressure vessel and switches

The Aquaco Aerobic System is more economic than the Aquaco Multi-Media System at volumes of less than 6,000 litres per hour for the underground aerobic system and 3,000 litres for the above ground aerobic system.
